This ethereal and airy feeling 7mm iolite round rose cut cabochon is handset in a size 8 sterling silver ring by Jamie at Sage Flower Creations. This beautiful ring has sunburst rays that have cubic zirconia in them and when the light catches the iolite right the gem has a slight silver sheen.

Fun Fact : Iolites are also known as water sapphires due to their color and likeness to a sapphire.

This ring is casted in sterling silver but then is electroplated in rhodium to provide corrosive protection and to enhance the appearance as well as the durability of the sterling silver.

Stone hardness: Iolite rates as a 7 to a 7.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. Although this means that iolite may be a strong and durable gemstone but, caution and care are needed to assure that it is not scratched or damaged.
